Introduction:
SNGC gives equal importance to physical education on par with curricular education. The department of physical education has been doing a wonderful service in the field of sports and games since 1994.
The department is headed by Mr.M.Sundaramahalingam as the Director of Physical Education and Mrs.K.Thenmozhli as the Asst.Physical Directress, who guide the students to attain the great achievements.
Activities:
Sports play an important role in the life of students which make man perfect. Our students are coached and trained in various games such as football, khokho, cricket, Kabaddi, Vollyball, handball and table tennis, in addition to the sports such as walking, running, jumping and throwing events. We proposed to start chess club from the academic year 2011 -2012 .It is requested the management to provide gym,yoga and martial arts facilities. Our college football, cricket, Khokho and kabaddi team participate Bharathiar University tournament, invitation tournament from TamilNadu and Kerala, The tournament has conducted by various clubs as well as Distric association.
The special training and coaching has been given in the morning and evening regularly and special camps are organized before each tournament.
Sports quota and Concession:
Special considerations are given to the outstanding sports persons who represented State or national .They are provided with 50%,75% and 100% concession according to their performance. The free boarding is also provided to them .To encourage the players management offers special cash awards for the University ,State and National players.
Yoga Education:
To inculcate the importance of traditional yogasana our college opted the course namely Yoga for Human Excellence for the second year students. Trained teachers handle the classes with the practical exposure.
Achievements:
SNGC has produced nearly 63 University players in various games so far. It is a main football and khokho players producing centre. Here we recognize Mr.Haridayal earnest effort to make this college as a sports centre.
We would like to highlights the achievements for the academic year 2010-11
- Mr.Jeffery Roldex ,Mr.Afsal,Mr.Shehin,Mr.Sajith and Mr.Shanoj represented Bharathiar University team.
- Football team got runner up place in C Zone match and won the University title in Inter Zonal match .It is a hatric win of the football team.
- Mr.Sivakumar ,Mr.Subees,Mr.Jayababu,Mr.Pramoth and Mr.Rajeesh were selected to represent Bharathiar University Khokho team .
- Khokho team got the winner place in Bharathiar University Intercollegiate Tournament . Cricket team could enter upto quarter final in District match.
- Football team got second place in Marodonna Club match.
- Football team entered till semi final in Nirmala College Trophy and Christ College Trophy.
- Coimbatore District Football association league match was won by SNGC and ranked first in the District.
- Football team bagged second runner place in the Prestigious SNGC Trophy South India level Intercollegiate Tournament and ranked third in South India.
SNGC Trophy Tournament:
SNGC conducts South India football tournament ever year .This year 22 top ranked teams from TamilNadu, Kerala and Karnataka took part in the tournament.
